Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) goals

Stonewater was one of the first social housing providers in the UK to adopt the sector-wide Sustainable Finance Framework (SFF), published by Good Economy, which forms the basis of our ESG reporting. Our SFF has been validated by a second party opinion from ISS ESG (see below).

This framework gives us a transparent way to report on the impact of the work we do and demonstrate our commitment to:

  • Providing quality homes and services for our customers, including some of the most vulnerable people in our society
  • Identifying and improving the environmental impacts of our operations
  • Having an organisational culture where equality, diversity and inclusion are embedded and valued.

We also use the Sustainability Reporting Standard (SRS) to help us report on our sustainability achievements. The SRS tool is divided into twelve themes, aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

SHIFT accreditation

SHIFT is an environmental accreditation specifically for social landlords.

We are committed to providing homes that are energy efficient and are working towards Government’s targets for carbon neutrality. In recognition of our work in this area, we have been awarded a Gold ‘SHIFT’ rating, an independent assessment and accreditation scheme that measures organisations against challenging environmental targets.

Stonewater uses SHIFT as its Environmental Management System (EMS) to monitor performance and set targets for continuous improvement.

The latest SHIFT report provides and overview of our environmental performance and CO2 emissions for all key areas of our operations.
