Today (Wednesday, 27 August) the Regulator of Social Housing announced its latest regulatory judgements.
We’re really pleased to have been rated G1 for governance and V2 for viability, with inspectors also assessing us as C2 on the new consumer standards. Alongside this, they recognised several key strengths and initiatives that are enhancing our services and helping us deliver a great experience for Stonewater customers.
We are delighted to have retained our G1 rating, which reflects the highest standards of governance, strategic oversight and risk assurance, demonstrating the continued strength of our leadership.
We have also received a V2 rating for financial viability. While Stonewater’s financial position remains strong, it reflects the challenges facing the wider sector, including higher interest rates and investment in repairs and maintenance, as well as our conscious decisions to prioritise investment in our existing properties.
This judgement reflects Stonewater’s financial capacity to deal with a reasonable range of adverse scenarios. We are committed to ensuring that Stonewater remains financially strong and resilient, with the agility and resource to respond to opportunities as they arise.
The C2 rating confirms we are broadly meeting the new consumer standards but have work to do to address some aspects. It was pleasing to see assurance from the Regulator that we are meeting our health and safety requirements as a landlord.
We welcome the regulator’s increased focus on consumer outcomes and view this as an important opportunity to improve further. This is the first time Stonewater has received a customer grading, and while there is more to do to meet the highest rating of C1, we are currently implementing several positive initiatives and improvements to strengthen services for customers.
Our commitment to delivering safe, high-quality homes and excellent customer service remains unwavering, and we will continue to build on this foundation to deliver meaningful, lasting change for our customers and communities.
Jonathan Layzell, Chief Executive at Stonewater, said: “This judgement reflects the progress we’ve made, but we know there is more to do.
I’m incredibly proud of the work our colleagues do every day to support customers and deliver services that make a real difference to their lives. We take the regulator’s feedback seriously and will continue working closely with them to strengthen our approach and achieve the highest rating of C1.
Most importantly, our focus remains on making sure our customers consistently experience the quality of service they expect and deserve.”
