Home contents insurance
Find out why you need contents insurance and more information about the My Home Contents Insurance scheme by Thistle.
Why do I need contents insurance?
Contents insurance can pay to repair or replace your belongings if they're damaged, broken, stolen, or lost because of accidents, floods, fire, burst pipes or theft.
Even if you’re careful, accidents happen. Contents insurance can help with:
- Broken oven doors or hobs
- Smashed mirrors or glass in furniture
- Spoiled food in your fridge or freezer
- Spilt paint on carpets
- Theft or attempted theft from your home, shed or garage
- Accidental damage to TVs, laptops, phones and other devices
All our homes (except some leasehold ones) already have buildings insurance through us, which insures the structure of your home and fixed fittings - but not your personal belongings. In some cases, buildings insurance may be included in your service charge. If you’re not sure, get in touch, and we can let you know.
Please note: We suggest that you look for providers who are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
