Volunteers bring Christmas cheer to Reading retirement scheme

Kind-hearted staff from B&Q at Reading Gate Retail Park have donated their time and decorating skills to help bring some Christmas cheer to residents at Raglan Court, a retirement living scheme in Blagdon Road, Reading.

The caring volunteers decked the residents’ communal lounge with bows of festive red- and gold-themed tinsel, colourful poinsettia plants and most importantly, a pre-lit festive tree.

Raglan Court, which is owned and managed by leading social housing provider Stonewater, provides 27 self-contained flats for over 55s. The residence enables residents to live independently with the reassurance of support when needed.

“We are really grateful to all of B&Q’s volunteers who have helped bring some Christmas cheer to our residents,” says Amanda Tongue, Stonewater Retirement Living Service Delivery Officer, who supports Raglan Court residents. “The decorations all look really great and everyone is feeling ‘Christmassy’!””

Jenny Velvick, Showroom Manager at B&Q Reading, says: “We value our role in the local community and were delighted to be able to bring some festive cheer to the lovely residents at Raglan Court.”
