Swindon projects appeal for £5 gift cards to help town’s homeless and vulnerable over Christmas
Staff at four of Stonewater’s supported housing projects in Swindon are appealing to members of the community to donate £5 gift cards or vouchers from stores such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Boots, to help bring a little festive cheer to homeless and vulnerable young people this Christmas.
The four projects making the appeal are the Swindon Foyer in Bath Road and Radnor Lodge, Radnor Street which both house homeless young people, and Bow Court and Hazelmead House in Bath Road which provide supported accommodation for residents with mental health and learning needs.
“Christmas can be a very lonely and bleak time of year for young and vulnerable people. Many come to us from desperate situations and have very little to look forward to at this time of year,” says Michelle Mueller who manages the 57-room Swindon Foyer. “A £5 gift card to spend on a food treat, warm clothing, toiletries or a DVD, can really make a difference and help to bring a little happiness and Christmas cheer to their lives during the festive season.”
Stonewater’s project staff work throughout the Christmas season to provide a Christmas meal for residents and to ensure that they have the support they need to make it through what can be a challenging time of year for many.
Gift card donations for the Stonewater supported housing projects can be dropped off at the Swindon Foyer at 17-21 Bath Road, Swindon SN1 4AS up until 24 December. Contact the Foyer on 01793 612622 for more details.
