Swindon's local enterprises and community groups are benefitting from a new meeting and events space created by leading national housing association Stonewater.

The Annexe @ Bath Road is a business and community hub, which is designed to benefit Swindon people from all walks of life, whether they are business owners, students, or members of many and varied clubs, groups and societies.

Equipped with everything a business or community group could need – projector, conference-style seating, sofas, complimentary Wi-Fi and drinks station, as well as convenient car parking and catering service – The Annexe @ Bath Road has been delivered through Stonewater's Area Improvement Fund to provide a multi-purpose space that can be used for events and meetings.

While Swindon is a lovely place to live as well as to work in, many entrepreneurs and smaller businesses in Swindon do not have the same resources as large corporate organisations, and this new space offers well-equipped event and meeting facilities on their doorstep. There are also many ambitious local organisations with aspiring ideas for community events, but they often struggle to find an event space at an affordable rent.

Stonewater is encouraging local businesses and groups to take advantage of this space, which is available to rent for conferences, training, community events, activities and more.

Several local groups have already begun renting the meeting rooms and event space, with the NHS and local youth LGBTQ+ group Out of The Can having organised their monthly meetings to take place at The Annexe @ Bath Road from now on. Meanwhile, local food business, The Sandwich People, is Stonewater's catering partner at the venue.

Stonewater’s Andrew King, Regional Manager, Supported Housing, said: “I am delighted to announce the creation of this wonderful multi-purpose space.

"Stonewater has been supporting the Swindon community in many ways for a long time by building affordable homes and providing accommodation for young people in the area. This is another great opportunity for us to help the community and it is great to see The Annexe @ Bath Road in full swing. We encourage all local businesses and community groups to use this fantastic facility, and to get to know Stonewater as they do so.”

Liz Cox, Team Manager of the Early Intervention for Psychosis Service (NHS Team), said: “My team and I use the Annexe to conduct our weekly team meetings and occasional other appointments with our service users. Colleagues from the Annexe are friendly when we collect the key, always ensure it is clean prior to our meetings and are always happy to help with any last-minute changes or requests we throw at them. It’s central – making it easy to get to – and is a lovely and comfortable space, suitable for a wide range of needs and we couldn’t recommend it enough.”

Stonewater’s Supported Housing Team, which successfully transformed a former hairdressers' shop into this fantastic community centre, is managing enquiries from those interested in using the space. Anyone who would like to find out more should contact Jennie Rubel at Stonewater's Swindon Foyer:
