Marie Riordan has been promoted to the new role as part of the leading housing provider’s plans to grow its development team, supporting its long-term strategy to build at least 1,500 high quality affordable homes each year from 2022.

Marie brings more than 18 years’ experience in the social housing sector, having begun her career as an area housing manager at Saxon Weald in 2003.

She joined Stonewater in 2014 as Regional Development Manager (East) before becoming Head of Development (South) last year.

Marie said: “I am excited to take on this new role, pushing forward Stonewater’s ambitious development plans in order to give everyone the opportunity to have a place that they can call home.

“Stonewater is a fantastic organisation to work for, so I am proud to be taking this next step in my career and to be working with such an incredible team.”

Marie will head up Stonewater’s development plans across the south and central areas of England, including schemes at Newhaven in East Sussex, Haslemere in Surrey, Castlethorpe in Buckinghamshire and Houghton Regis in Bedfordshire.

James Bradbury, Director of Development Operations at Stonewater said: “We’re always looking to develop our own colleagues, so it’s really rewarding to see Marie move into this new position.

“We are keen to ensure our team has opportunities for growth with clear career paths, and this appointment is a great example of this.

“I’m looking forward to working with Marie and the rest of the team to meet the challenges of delivering our ambitious development programme, along with the much-needed homes it will provide.”
