Greenoak consultation – latest update
Following the first phase of our Greenoak consultation (11 October 2022, see below), we committed to publishing an update here on our website.
1 December 2022 - Update on customer consultation
We’re pleased to let you know that we’ve completed all the necessary checks and looked at all the customer responses we’ve received, and our Board has taken the decision to move forward with the partnership.
To remind you, under these proposals, Greenoak will continue operating as its own legal entity but will become a subsidiary of Stonewater (5) Limited and some of Stonewater’s housing management and maintenance services will transfer to Greenoak.
Answers to the customer questions we received through the consultation process are below:
Will this affect my rent?
If you’ve received a letter to say that you’ll be one of the homes receiving services via our partnership with Greenoak, Stonewater remains as your landlord and the terms and conditions of your tenancy or lease will stay the same. Among other things, this means that it won’t change the way we set your rent, which we’ll continue to review on an annual basis. This partnership will also have no impact on customers who are not in the Greenoak area.
Will we have new contractors?
If you’ve received a letter to say that you’ll be one of the homes receiving services via our partnership with Greenoak, when the partnership commences, you’ll receive some of your maintenance services through Greenoak’s in-house direct labour organisation (DLO). We’ll write to you directly with timelines.
We’re now working with Greenoak to confirm our how long it will take to start working together. Please check back here for updates on the next phase of our partnership with Greenoak.
If you have any questions about our partnership with Greenoak, please contact us on customers@stonewater.org
11 October 2022 - Customer consultation on Greenoak proposal
Stonewater is currently considering a proposal for Greenoak Housing Association Limited (Greenoak) to join the Stonewater Group.
If the proposal goes ahead, Greenoak would continue operating as its own legal entity but would become a subsidiary of Stonewater (5) Limited.
There would be no change for the vast majority of Stonewater customers and where there is a potential impact, we have written to customers separately to explain more about the proposals through a formal consultation process.
The main drivers of the proposal include:
- A strong, natural fit between Stonewater and Greenoak, particularly in the areas of social ethos, customer care and commitment to sustainability.
- The opportunity to share resources and become more efficient, which would release money for new homes and investment in customer services.
Adding Greenoak as a new member of the Stonewater Group would also strengthen the financial resilience of both organisations and, together, enable us to increase the overall number of new homes for people who need them most.
We already have experience of working together, through Greenoak’s management of Stonewater homes in the Woking area.
The feedback from the consultation (where it applies) will be considered by Stonewater’s Board before they make a final decision on the proposal.
We will publish the outcome in November and meanwhile if you have any particular comments or questions please get in touch with us, using the email address: customers@stonewater.org
