The scheme:
Six veterans worked alongside Stonewater’s contractor to build Noden’s Mews, gaining construction skills, training and experience as they built their own homes; providing them with valuable, transferable skills that they can bring to the workplace.
Named after World War 1 veteran Malcolm Noden, Stonewater commissioned six poppy sculptures and two commemorative benches to feature in the community garden. Several fruit trees have also been planted, alongside a herb garden and vegetable patch for residents to enjoy.
The project demonstrates how organisations can work with local councils and charities to provide much-needed new affordable homes to those who need them the most, whilst supporting the wider community.
