Bracknell redevelopment scheme wins national praise
A recently completed development of affordable homes in Bracknell has already won national recognition for its role in regenerating the town.
Edenfield, a complex of 48 homes built by leading social housing provider Stonewater, has been shortlisted for Best Regeneration Project in the prestigious Inside Housing Development Awards.
The award recognises schemes that have transformed an area and created more homes to meet local housing need.
Edenfield has been built on the site of a former office block off Larges Lane, near the town centre, as part of the area’s wider regeneration.
Completed in August, the scheme comprises 41 apartments (33 for affordable rent and eight for shared ownership) and seven townhouses (two for affordable rent and five for shared ownership).
The homes feature high quality design, the latest safety features and in-built energy efficiency.
As well as transforming the overall look of the area, the development is helping to meet the growing demand for affordable housing in the town.
Matthew Crucefix, Assistant Director of Development at Stonewater (West), said: “We are very proud of what we have achieved at Edenfield – a highly attractive complex of much-needed homes on a prominent site near the heart of the town.
“The scheme has helped revitalise the neighbourhood and provide a range of affordable housing options for local people. We are extremely pleased that this contribution to Bracknell’s regeneration has been recognised at a national level by the award judges.”
Winners will be announced at the Inside Housing Development Awards ceremony in London on 27th October.
