Chipping Norton residents, local politicians and stakeholders joined Stonewater in celebrating the opening of the new development.

In partnership with West Oxfordshire District Council, Bellway homes and Arcadis, the leading national housing association successfully brought to Chipping Norton 91 much needed affordable homes.

Sitting on the edge of Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Cotswold Gate development benefits from the wonderful surrounding area on top of the affordable price.

66 properties will be available for below market rent and 25 homes will be available for shared ownership - Stonewater’s part-buy and part-rent scheme which is a realistic and affordable way to purchase a brand-new home.

At the development, there are a wide range of apartments and houses to meet the varying needs of the local community.

Twelve one-bedroom flats, twelve two-bedroom flats, 29 two-bedroom houses, eleven three-bedroom houses and two four-bedroom houses can be rented at an affordable price for families of two to six. The weekly rent is as low as £117.

25 homes will be available for shared ownership with the sales value starting at just £198,500. Eight two-bedroom flats, nine two-bedroom houses and eight three-bedroom houses will be offered through Stonewater’s part-buy, part-rent scheme to accommodate families of four and five.

All homes will have allocated parking and pleasant private gardens as well as plenty of open space within the development for all to enjoy.

With the generous funding from Chipping Norton Town Council, a communal play area is on its way, providing excellent quality development with a family-friendly atmosphere. Stonewater is also working with West Oxfordshire District Council in order to give back to the community by providing a public realm.

These Stonewater homes are part of a bigger 228-home-development – being built by Bellway Homes.

Stonewater’s Assistant Director of Development, Chris Montague said: “Today was wonderful day in Chipping Norton as we marked the opening of this superb development at Cotswold Gate. These new affordable homes delivered by Stonewater will be a significant boost to tackling the housing shortage in local area. There are a number of different properties ranging from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom houses offering genuinely affordable homes for rent or as a first step on the property ladder for local people.”

Cllr Steve Good, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, said: “Chipping Norton is a wonderful place to live but so many people have had to move away due to the lack of affordable properties. This development will help change that, ensuring more people and their families can continue to live in the local area. I hope to see much more of this type of development from Stonewater and other non-profit organisations going forward.”

Chris Edginton, Sales Director at Bellway Homes said: “We are proud to be the delivery partner of this scheme. At Bellway Homes we pride ourselves on understanding the aspirations of all buyers regardless of their budget. We have dedicated ourselves to provide the types of homes that suit the customers’ needs in the environment in which you want to live. This project has been very exciting for us. It is inspiring to be able to build affordable homes to accommodate the local residents and families.”
