32 new affordable homes bring Christmas cheer to Eastleigh house-hunters

Leading social housing provider Stonewater has brought some Christmas cheer to house-hunters in the Eastleigh area with the completion of 32 smart new affordable village homes off Winchester Road in Fair Oak.

Built to meet a local demand for affordable housing for rent and sale, the new Stonewater housing community offers a mix of 26 homes for low cost rent and six two-, three- and four-bedroom houses for affordable shared ownership. The rental properties include six one- and two-bedroom apartments, and 20 two, three- and four-bedroom houses.

“With the average monthly rent in the Eastleigh area at around £1,300, it’s extremely difficult for many people on local wages to find good-quality housing – particularly larger family homes that they can realistically afford,” says Rebecca Fleckney, Development Manager for Stonewater. “We hope that these new Stonewater homes will help meet this need in the community and provide the type of housing people want in locations where it’s really needed.”

The new village homes have been developed by Stonewater in partnership with Eastleigh Borough Council and housebuilders Bloor Homes. The scheme is part of Crowdhill Green, a new development of 116 affordable homes within a larger mixed community of 330 homes which developers Bloor Homes and Linden Homes are building in Fair Oak.

Stonewater will create a further 84 affordable new homes at the development in 2017.
