Stonewater development shortlisted for sustainability award

Stonewater has been shortlisted for this year's Constructing Excellence South West Awards, with our Mendip View scheme in Axbridge making the final list in the 'Sustainability' category.

Mendip View is a Stonewater development of 20 affordable homes, making use of the latest technology to achieve A-rated energy efficiency which far exceeds the Building Regulation standards. The homes include innovative Wondrwall heating systems, as well as electric car charging points and PV-panels.

Compared to similar houses with gas heating, each year the development is set to achieve over 110,000 KWH less energy consumption, and a staggering 20,000kg less CO₂ emissions. This also leads to lower fuel bills for our customers living in the homes, shielding them from the worst of the energy market in a year of steep price rises - so much so that together, customers living in Mendip View could save up to £23,000 a year compared to standard gas heating systems. 

Mendip View has the potential to inform other developments too, as anonymous data is collected by the Wondrwall system, allowing us to understand how customers use their homes, and spot opportunities for future builds, too.
