Stonewater has been recognised for excellence in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, earning accreditation from the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA).

Date published: 17 March 2026

DAHA accreditation is awarded to housing sector organisations that demonstrate best practice in how they respond to domestic abuse, ensuring safe, consistent and compassionate support for those who need it most.

For customers, this recognition reflects the leading affordable housing provider’s ongoing commitment to providing safe homes, offering meaningful support and empowering survivors as they rebuild their lives.

Whether providing specialist accommodation or helping families access the right support, survivors’ needs and safety are at the heart of every Stonewater decision.

The assessment highlighted Stonewater’s strong partnership working with local authorities, police, safeguarding teams and specialist domestic abuse services.

Staff were also recognised for their compassionate responses, backed by clear policies and procedures that ensure consistent and safe support for customers experiencing abuse.

The Domestic Abuse Intervention Team, alongside the organisations’ Domestic Abuse Champions Network, have played a pivotal role in achieving the accreditation through their expertise, dedication and passion for supporting survivors.

Their approach is rooted in a survivor-led ethos that prioritises safety, choice and empowerment, meaning each person is treated with dignity, respect and understanding.

Nicola Lambe, Head of Specialist Services at Stonewater, said: “We are incredibly proud to have achieved DAHA accreditation, which recognises the quality and impact of our support for survivors of domestic abuse.

“This achievement is a testament to the compassion and professionalism of our teams, in addition to the strength of our ongoing partnership with agencies and specialist services.

“We are passionate about supporting individuals and families, and committed to building on this work, further bolstering our services and ensuring every survivor receives the support and safe housing they deserve.”

Stonewater’s recognition by DAHA, whose accreditation is the UK benchmark for how housing providers should respond to domestic abuse in the UK, underscores the vital role housing associations play in tackling domestic abuse and supporting survivors through holistic care and safe accommodation.
