Waterworks Lane - veterans self-build project

Stonewater is leading an innovative community partnership to help armed forces veterans gain valuable construction skills, whilst building their own brand-new homes.

The scheme sees nine veterans working alongside local contractor J Harper & Son (Leominster) Ltd to build a small development of 19 affordable new homes in Waterworks Lane, Herefordshire. During construction, the veterans will all receive training and support, providing them with valuable, transferable skills that they can bring to the workplace. Once the development is complete, each of the veterans involved will then be able to rent one of the homes.

In partnership with Community Self Build Agency (now part of Alabare, a leading UK provider of supported housing) and The Royal British Legion, Stonewater's Waterworks Lane project aims to demonstrate how organisations can work with local councils and charities to provide much-needed new homes to those who need them the most.
