Will my benefits be affected?
If you are already receiving Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Universal Credit or Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) you will continue to receive your current payments as normal.
The Government has also confirmed that, until further notice, all face-to-face assessments for health and disability-related benefits have been suspended. This means that if you have an assessment has been booked in it will not be going ahead but there will be no impact on your benefits, and you will be contacted by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in due course to discuss next steps.
If you have made a new claim or wish to make a new claim, DWP will continue to take claims for all benefits.
If you have an appointment with a Jobcentre but have shown symptoms of coronavirus or are self-isolating and cannot attend you will not be sanctioned if you alert DWP in good time. If you have a work coach, you should contact them as soon as possible.
The Government has published more information about the impact of coronavirus on Universal Credit payments and eligibility. This is available online here.
