Residents celebrate retirement living scheme’s ‘wow factor’
Residents at Tanglewood Lodge in Poole celebrated the stunning refurbishment of their retirement living scheme today (1 November), enjoying a special lunch with guests including local stakeholders.
Leading housing association Stonewater’s transformation of the 34-apartment residency in Creekmoor is part of an ongoing £9m upgrade to its retirement living schemes across the country.
The significant investment will provide Stonewater’s older residents with consistently high-quality environments that meet this discerning group of customers’ expectations.
The refurbishment of Tanglewood Lodge included renovations to the scheme’s glass conservatory, which will now be a popular place to sit and enjoy views of the garden all year round.
In addition, an open plan kitchen and lounge has been created, with enhanced space and bespoke furniture.
All communal areas in the retirement living scheme have been decorated with a high-quality finish, new floors and upgraded lighting. The heating system in communal corridors has been replaced and a new emergency call system installed.
Scott Baxendale, Stonewater’s Executive Director of Assets, said: “It was wonderful to spend the morning with Tanglewood Lodge’s residents, celebrating a refurbishment that truly fulfils Stonewater’s long-term vision of creating environments our residents are proud of.
“Housing and services for older adults are a highly important part of Stonewater’s business, and since 2016, we’ve been investing in living environments that not only meet, but exceed, the needs and aspirations of our retirement living customers.”
Peter Hammond, a member of Stonewater’s Board, said: “We would like to recognise the hard work that has been put in to making the transformation of Tanglewood Lodge a reality.
“The new modern, functional design delivers a real ‘wow factor’; something that is being replicated across Stonewater’s retirement living schemes nationally.”
Beth, who lives at Tanglewood Lodge, said, “The scheme now has a beautiful finish, particularly the lounge and conservatory, and amazing artwork. Now the work is complete, the wonderful finish encourages more use of the lounge by residents and we’re starting to become a lot more sociable.”
