Contents Insurance

What is home contents insurance?

Home contents insurance provides you with cover to replace or fix your belongings if they get; accidentally damaged, destroyed, stolen or lost (depending on the type of cover you choose).

Why should I have home contents insurance?

We strongly recommend that you take out home contents insurance as we do not insure your; contents, fixtures, fittings or decorations against fire, theft, vandalism or leaks.

Contents insurance will give you peace of mind and will save you money in the long run if anything happened to your belongings.

For example; if your flat became flooded by a leak from a neighbours washing machine, and damaged your carpet your neighbour would be at fault but, if they don’t have insurance and cannot pay for the damage themselves you’d have to meet the cost of a replacement. However, if you have your contents insured you should be able to claim for your damaged items (as Stonewater were not at fault for the leak in this scenario we wouldn’t be responsible for rectifying the damage).

Where can I get home contents insurance?

This type of cover is available from a large number of providers. Remember as a Stonewater resident you only need to ensure the contents of your home (not the property itself ie; the bricks and mortar).
