Fire safety update (June 2017)
You will no doubt be aware of the recent, tragic events at Grenfell Tower block in London. We would like to offer assurance that, as a responsible social landlord, Stonewater has Fire Risk Assessments which are fully compliant with current legislation, across our whole portfolio and there are no outstanding actions resulting from these assessments.
Nevertheless, we understand this is no time for complacency and are conducting a comprehensive check of arrangements. Priority is being given to schemes which fall into ‘high rise’ classification (above 18 meters), of which we have very few. We are also reviewing arrangements at our sheltered and supported schemes which may be at a lower level but consist of up to 4 floors. Those schemes have been personally visited and we want to provide assurance that Stonewater is doing everything possible to ensure homes are safe and our procedures robust, in terms of fire risk. You can find general advice and guidance on fire safety on our website
You may be also interested to know that we have written to Kensington and Chelsea Council to offer our support and that our independent charitable arm – the Longleigh Foundation – is looking at how they may assist displaced Grenfell residents.
We are proud that Stonewater has an excellent record in terms of fire safety but understand you may have heightened concerns at this time. If you have any particular questions, please raise them directly with your Tenancy Service Officer or call our Customer Contact Team on 01202 319119.
