Abingdon Foyer, Oxfordshire

The foyer is located approximately eight miles from the City of Oxford in the centre of Abingdon and provides supported accommodation to vulnerable young people aged 16-30 who may have a variety of issues including the risk of becoming homeless, mental health or substance misuse.

Criteria

Referrals are made by Social Services or via the local Housing Department. All referrals are sent to the Placement Co-ordinator at Supporting People for consideration before being forwarded to the appropriate projects.

Accommodation

Abingdon Foyer has a total of 23 beds; made up of 7 cluster flats with individual bedrooms and shared kitchen & bathroom facilities. There are four (one-bedroom) self-contained flats based on the main site and a further two (one-bedroom) self-contained flats away from the project for Move-On. Two of the self-contained flats are allocated for our Young Parent provision.

Help and Support

Residents are allocated a Coach and have regular one to one personal support sessions which identify goals for the young person and the support needed to help achieve them.

Funding

The project is funded through licence fees, housing benefit, local government contracts and grants applied for directly by the Abingdon Foyer.
