Community Engagement Volunteer

We’re looking for someone who is a strong listener and an excellent communicator, with outstanding interpersonal skills and a natural ability to teach and motivate others.

We want a volunteer who can help older people to overcome barriers to participate in social, cultural and leisure opportunities along with other activities that will enhance their enjoyment, independence and quality of life.

Your main aim will be to increase social activity by Identifying and building relationships with organisations that provide social inclusion and social activity services to older people. You will then help in encouraging individuals to get involved with activities and engagement when you have agreed with them; measuring successes as you go. The focus will be on confidence building and working with individuals to overcome any barriers to participation that they might have so you can eventually help them to participate independently in social activities.

This is a great opportunity to support your local community, meet some amazing people and help others increase their social contacts, as well has helping those most vulnerable in society to benefit from an improved range of social activity and overall wellbeing. You can volunteer from just one hour a week.

The role involves working with vulnerable adults and as such Stonewater will require appropriate background checks, ie via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
